This 3-hour workshop with Kelly Kane will explore all the traditional concepts of structure and function, creating a new schematic for understanding the psoas and learn real tools to help those you teach achieve balance in their low backs and hips. We will also look at the compressive forces that affect the low back and look at some real tools to facilitate decompression in the lumbo-sacral region, reviewing the basics of pelvic assessment and explore a protocol of Pilates-based exercises to correct pelvic imbalances.

Kelly Kane studied Pilates with Romana Krazanaska & Hila Paldi, completing her certification with The Pilates Institute. She has studied BodyMind Centering, Continuum Movement, Iyengar Yoga, has done extensive work in Crossfit. She also attended Massage School at the Florida School of Massage.

Kelly’s manual therapy repertoire includes Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation. She further developed her perceptual skills through three years of human cadaver dissection.

In 1999 Kelly opened the Kane School of Core Integration in New York City. The teacher training programs at The Kane School are singular in their emphasis on developing teacher’s anatomical knowledge and palpatory skills while exacting an understanding of the classic Pilates repertory.

Kelly is a sought after continuing education provider and lecturer in the States and abroad and has presented at the Pilates Style Conference, ECA World Fitness, The Pilates Method Alliance Conference, the Australian Pilates Method Alliance Conference, Pilates on Tour among others. She presents specialized workshops on the biomechanics and anatomy of the shoulder, neck, lumbo-pelvic girdle, pelvic floor and feet, giving students real tools to apply what they learn with their clients in highly effective ways.
